{"id":2564,"date":"2015-02-23T15:06:26","date_gmt":"2015-02-23T14:06:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.theoffice.it\/?page_id=2564"},"modified":"2015-05-15T18:10:08","modified_gmt":"2015-05-15T16:10:08","slug":"linguistic-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.theoffice.it\/en\/who-we-are\/linguistic-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Linguistic services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Love for languages is in our DNA.<\/p>\n<p>But love is not all; there is also rigour, a commitment to remaining bang up-to-date, careful attention to language register and the target audience, terminological research, revision, and follow up, in addition to in-depth familiarity with information technology.<\/p>\n<p>Each language project is supervised by one of our project managers, who graduated at\u00a0the SSLMIT School and assist clients from the initial price estimate to final delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Our goal is to promote effective and full linguistic &#8211; and above all intercultural &#8211; communication.<\/p>\n<h1>translation<\/h1>\n<p>In addition to the theoretical aspects, a translation must \u2018work\u2019. A tender application translated into Russian must be just as competitive as one submitted by Russian suppliers; legally certified translations must be equally valid in their target country; the user\u2019s manual of an instrument must be clearly understood by all readers; and an important contract in English must take into account the institutional and legal context of the country in which it shall be applied.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0what we translate<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>contracts, deeds, court sentences, proxy statements, legal and administrative documents<\/li>\n<li>medical and scientific texts and books<\/li>\n<li>technical manuals and specifications<\/li>\n<li>press releases<\/li>\n<li>European Union\u00a0institutional texts<\/li>\n<li>calls for tenders<\/li>\n<li>budgets<\/li>\n<li>advertisements<\/li>\n<li>websites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From the scientific, IT, economic, medical, insurance, and legal macro-sectors down to highly specialized micro-sectors.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a0translations and more<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>text revisions<\/li>\n<li>sworn and legally-certified translations<\/li>\n<li>language consulting<\/li>\n<li>editing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>interpreting<\/h1>\n<p>Yes, it\u2019s called interpreting, not to be confused with translation \u2013 they\u2019re two different jobs. Unlike translators, who enjoy the luxury of time and reflection, interpreters should have a quick wit, and must be able to grasp nuances, empathize with their target audience, and know the relevant protocols inside and out.<\/p>\n<p>The interpreter is your alter ego, your avatar, your filter, and your guide in a foreign culture.<\/p>\n<p>Communication, as always, is at the centre of it all, whether at a conference with five official languages, during business negotiations, at an institutional ceremony with VIP guests, or during a television interview.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Simultaneous interpreting (with a booth for interpreters and headsets for the audience)<\/li>\n<li>Consecutive interpreting, sitting beside the speaker<\/li>\n<li><em>Chuchotage<\/em> or whispered interpreting, using the so-called bidule equipment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>our languages<\/h1>\n<p>BG &gt; CZ &gt; DA &gt; DE &gt; EL &gt; EN &gt; ES &gt; ET &gt; FI &gt; FR &gt; HR &gt; HU &gt; IT &gt; LI &gt; LV &gt; MT &gt; NL &gt; PL &gt; PT &gt; RU &gt; SL &gt; SK &gt; SV<\/p>\n<p>Although some of these acronyms\u00a0may seem obscure to the lay person, they are the official languages of the European Union\u2019s 28 countries.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, we work in Serbian, Macedonian, Russian, Turkish, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese.<\/p>\n<p>We translate from and into all these languages.<\/p>\n<h1>translators and interpreters<\/h1>\n<p>Our translators and interpreters are recruited on the basis of strict requirements. They all have specialized degrees, usually from the SSLMIT School for Translators and Interpreters of the University of Trieste, other Italian universities, or equivalent institutions abroad. They generally translate into their native language, and are professionals with extensive experience in different\u00a0sectors.<\/p>\n<p>They all share the same passion: a love for languages, a fondness for words, and a tireless search for the perfect linguistic solution.<\/p>\n<h1>quality control<\/h1>\n<p>All texts undergo linguistic and format revision. All revisions are made by our senior revisers and translators.<\/p>\n<h3>confidentiality<\/h3>\n<p class=\"smallp\">All of the office\u2019s translators, revisers, and interpreters, in addition to all staff, are sworn to confidentiality.<\/p>\n<h3>terminology<\/h3>\n<p class=\"smallp\">Each job is assigned to one of our professionals on the basis of their specialization.
